With Google Earth, many sightings in the face of the earth can be seen from the upper side. This satellite-based mapping service is can be accessed for free via the internet.
But apparently, not all the things Google has been recorded can be displayed freely in one of the popular product. Some locations are known deliberately obscured by Google.
Google said governments in some countries are not acceptable locations considered confidential or private display. Anywhere? Here are some examples as compiled by Mashable.
1. Royal Palace of Amsterdam
The Dutch government does not want the location and appearance of the royal buildings clearly displayed on Google Earth. One is the Royal Palace of Amsterdam or the Dutch Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam.
Royal Palace of Amsterdam is one of the three ancient royal palace in the Netherlands. This palace was built in the 17th century and is now a famous landmark in the European countries.
2. Bufallo Niagara International Airport
The airport is located in New York, United States. For some reason that was not mentioned, this airport can not be seen clearly on Google Earth.
Looks mostly third largest airport building in New York was obscured with white. And so on-zoom, details can not be seen too well.
3. Minami Torishima Airport
Minami Torishima Airport is located on the island of Minami Torisaham in eastern Japan. In Google Earth, the airport seemed obscured with white.
Currently, the airport is used by the Japanese military. Perhaps, it is to be one of the factors Minami Tiroshima Airport should not be shown clearly from the air.
4. Michael AAF Building
U.S. military who own the building. They tested chemical and biological weapons system in place that is located in Utah, the United States.
Google was asked to not show the building with outspoken in Google Earth. Strong possibility of being related to national security matters.
5. Cornell University Combined Heat and Power Plant
Educational institutions there are also requested that the building is not shown in Google Earth. One of them is Cornell University in New York, United States.
The requested facility is obscured Combined Heat and Power Plant. This facility is a high-tech environmentally friendly, which can generate electricity from natural gas.
6. Vlissingen
Dutch government known to be quite strict in regulating Google Earth. Not only the property of the kingdom are required to be obscured appearance.
Other locations that have obfuscated Google eg oil shelters in Vlissingen. Pretty much did the Dutch military base that should not be displayed clearly on Google Earth.
It is unclear why the area in the Russian regions obscured by Google. Therefore, the area is a true tersebt tundra in Siberia.
The area is quite remote and far from urban. Perhaps, there are certain things you want kept secret by the Russian government about this place.
