2013 Smartphone Shipments Reach 1 Billion Units More

JAKARTA - A report from the International Data Corporation ( IDC ) reveals that smartphone shipments this year to penetrate one billion units. This is an increase of 40 percent from the previous year's report .

Reported Phonearena , Friday ( 29/11/2013 ) , IDC saw the growth of smartphone shipments will reach 1.7 billion units by 2017 . One factor is the growth in the price of increasingly affordable smartphones .

Explained , the average price of smartphones declined by 12.5 percent to USD317 . IDC predicts that smartphone price in 2017 is expected to be USD265 .

Questioning platforms , mobile operating system still dominates , where 81 percent of smartphones shipped in the third quarter based on Android . While iOS accounted for 12.9 per cent recorded .

While the Windows Phone platform recorded a contribution to global smartphone shipments by 15 percent . And the BlackBerry to be satisfied with only accounted for 1.7 percent .

Based on the ABI report , Android dominate the market with 81 percent , followed by 14 percent iOS , Windows Phone 4 percent , and BlackBerry 1.5 percent .
