Finding Water in Nuclear Technology

Wonosari - Where there BATAN ( National Nuclear Energy Agency ) there is water . So roughly expression inherent in technological institutes that focuses research on nuclear power .

Because BATAN can find the source of water flow in a way to detect it with radio-isotopes . If the water was not so deep under the ground, a search can be done with a tool called tracer . Much like tool Gegana bomb detector , water detector tracer also will sound loud and fast if they find water .

However, if the water was at a depth of over 100 meters , radio isotopes released on upstream water in the cave , and the tracer re-done . In Gunung Kidul , Yogyakarta , in a cave called Bribin , search technologies that carried water from nuclear power .

South Mountain is a very dry region often lack of water , but is rich in underground water . There are several rivers flowing underground , at a depth of 100 meters , the underground river Bribin one of them .

Since 2000 working with the drilling team BATAN conduct studies to find the right spot to drill , and then pumping the water in the soil to meet the needs of 79,000 souls in the three districts of Gunung Kidul . In the search process , that's where the use of nuclear technology .

" Radio isotope released in the water of the river , from which it can be seen how the water flow and volume , if it meets the criteria of the drilling will be done , " said Andre , one of the managers of micro hydro coordinator in Bribin . But not to worry , the radio isotope that flowed only on a small scale . And will disappear in just 8 hours . It did not pollute the environment .

Starting in 2004 , the drilling is done . Working closely with BATAN , Government DIY , and researchers from Germany , the planting of the module ( a set of tools which consists of a turbine , gearbox , and pump ) at a depth of 105 meters is done and completed in 2010. With these modules , the water can be drawn to the surface of the soil at the rate of 20 liters per second .
